Her work as a professional artist and a self-proclaimed obsession with all things artsy make Dianna Fritzler the queen of Grand Junction's cultural scene. After a bit of world travel and forays into the world of public relations, she finally dropped out of the rat race to pursue more creative dreams of being a painter. She's never looked back, and never tires of talking about the area's thriving arts.  Read full profile

Holy smokes!  Is time racing by, or is it just me?!  Anyway... just finished the Grand Valley "Open Studios Tour".  It was awesome.  Even through the rain, visitors came by, chatted, ate and bought lots of art. If you haven't ever been, there's another "Open Studios Tour" this fall and I'll keep you posted.

I wasn't kidding when I said "Ya'll Ready for This" in a previous blog.  There are so many fun things happening this summer it's a little tough to fit them all in!  But, your options are many.  Here's  a few coming up.

Mesa State College hosts two great concerts this week.  Tonight is the Mesa State Symphony Orchestra Concert and Thursday night is the Wind Symphony Concert.  Both are at the Moss Performing Arts Center and start at 7:30.  And with tickets at just $10 for adults, $8 for senior and $5 for students, it's a no-brainer for an evening of spectacular music..

"Open Mic Night" at The Rockslide Brew Pub kicks it off on Thursday with musicians galore.  This will continue every Thursday night throughout the summer. I've never been, but I think it would be a gas.  The food at the Rockslide is always good too and they bring out fresh baked bread to start you off.  Sometimes it's hard to save room for the meal!

Friday things pop into high gear as FrameWorks & Gallery on Main Street opens the "Three Amigos Photo Show."  Popular photographers, Rob Kurtzman, Jeff Kochevar and Steve Traudt show off some of their spectacular work.

AND The Wells Fargo Art & Jazz Festival starts on Friday from noon - 10 p.m.  This event is always a big hit.  I love it!  Tons of wonderful fine art, art demos, food and "beverages."  To top it all off, the jazz creates toe-tappin', booty-swayin' fun!  The bands are wonderful and this year we even have the Hazel Miller Band performing Saturday at 8 p.m.  The event runs throughout the weekend, wrapping up at 4 p.m. on Friday.  Come play!

Also on Friday, if you haven't received enough music, head over the the GJ High School Auditorium for "Chasing Light" by the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra is always a real treat.

OK.  That's enough for now.  I don't want to overwhelm you!  However, I'll write again soon about a few more thing happening this weekend.  Until then...have a good one!
