Her work as a professional artist and a self-proclaimed obsession with all things artsy make Dianna Fritzler the queen of Grand Junction's cultural scene. After a bit of world travel and forays into the world of public relations, she finally dropped out of the rat race to pursue more creative dreams of being a painter. She's never looked back, and never tires of talking about the area's thriving arts.  Read full profile

Whew... There's so much going on this weekend that I had to divide it into two blogs. Here's more happenings this weekend.

Saturday "springs" into action with the 11th Annual Bloomin'Deals Plant & Craft Sale at the Botoanical Gardens. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. -- and it's free!  Not the plants of course, but the entrance.

Penny Creasy highlights the artists reception at Frame Depot from 1 - 4:30 on Saturday.  Penny is one of my favorite people. Her art work is exceptional and she is a delight to speak with.

This weekend is also the final "Pig Tails & Wine Trails" Art & Winery Tour in Palisade. These are a hoot with lots going on at all Palisade wineries as well as The Blue Pig.  Fun, food and festivities for all.  A GREAT way to spend Mothers' Day!  And this Sunday there is an added bonus.  The large, well-known sculpture called "Harley" that used to grace The Blue Pig will be dedicated to the town of Palisade and placed in the new Palisade Town Plaza at 1 p.m.  For those of you who have not "met" Harley, he is a huge silver fish made out of a boat-load of Harley Davidson mufflers. Wayyyy cool.  The artist, Lyle Nichols, is a so incredibly wonderful AND exceptionally talented.  His sculptures grace homes, golf courses and more across the U.S.  We are very fortunate to have him here.

As you can see, there's plenty to choose from.  So get out and go play!
