OK -- so I got a little teary-eyed. Attended the Grand Junction High School Orchestra concert last night and was once again blown away by the performance and talent level of the students and instructor. We are incredibly fortunate to have Cameron Law teach orchestra at both West Middle School and Grand Junction High School. And, it is because of him and his ability to inspire and teach kids that we have such a huge orchestra student population that LOVES music of all kinds. Many of his students go on to study music in college and then play as professionals in symphonies across the country. Kudos, Mr. Law. And kudos to the students who take such pride in their playing. What a joy!
Speaking of pride in performance... don't miss "Man of La Mancha" presented by the High Desert Opera this New Year's Eve. The delightful and historic Avalon Theatre houses the New Year's Eve Gala, which promises to blow the roof off! This annual event has become so popular, the High Desert Opera now has a repeat performance on Jan. 2. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. for both shows, and tickets start at just $10. Go to www.highdesertopera.org for more information.
The performance level at this show is remarkable. Who would think that a small town on the western slope of Colorado housed so much talent! I am constantly blown away by the quality AND quantity of artistic vision and skill in this community. It is truly something to experience.
And, as the festive season is upon us, I hope you and your family experience one of the most magical and memorable (in a good way!) holidays ever. Enjoy every moment.
