The Grand Junction area is well known for growing fruits of all kinds – including peaches, cherries and apples. At the turn of the century, many orchards also began growing grapes, which they eventually used to make wine. While there was an extended period before, during and after Prohibition where wine was not made, the tradition of grape growing in this moderate climate returned in the 1960s and has been gaining acclaim ever since.
