![]() LATEST NEWS FOR MEETING PLANNERS New Air Service OfferedContinental Airlines now offers twice-daily nonstop service between Grand Junction and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Air Tours Available Gateway Canyons Air Tours has opened for business. It offers scenic, adventure and customized air tours of western Colorado and eastern Utah. New Wineries Open Gubbini Winery, Maison la Belle Vie Winery, Colterris Wines and Hermosa Vineyards have opened in Palisade, bringing the number of wineries in the Grand Junction area to 21. New Museum and Event Centers Open Allen Unique Autos Museum and Event Center is now open. It houses Tammy Allen's personal collection of 80 cars, including two Mustangs owned by Sonny and Cher, Rolls Royces owned by Nicolas Cage and Zsa Zsa Gabor, a Mercedes owned by Evel Knievel and the personal limousine of Bruce Willis. Hotel Additions and Renovations In June, Grand Junction welcomed the addition of two new hotels. Candlewood Suites adds 97 sleeping rooms to the city, while Marriott's SpringHill Suites adds 100 sleeping rooms and one meeting room. Quality Inn recently added a fitness room; La Quinta Inn and Suites has completed a significant renovation of its lobby, as well as upgrades to its sleeping rooms; and Clarion, a Choice Hotel, recently rebranded a section of its rooms into an Econo Lodge. All 51 rooms were completely remodeled, with the project completed at the beginning of July. Downtown Improvements The City of Grand Junction is replacing water lines and making storm drainage improvements, as well as providing additional area for the expansion of Art on the Corner. A free outdoor sculpture exhibit located downtown, Art on the Corner features more than 100 sculptures year 'round. It is Colorado's largest and most diverse outdoor sculpture display on a main street. The total project cost is estimated at $5.16 million. Golf Course Renovations The 18-hole Tiara Rado public course, a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program, has completed a $3.5-million improvement project that added nearly 400 yards from the back tees. New Contract Salesperson The VCB welcomed Stefanie Maher to its staff in February. Stefanie is the new contract sales representative for the Denver market. Redlands Mesa is No. 1 Course The 18-hole The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa, which offers views of the Grand Mesa, the Bookcliffs and the Colorado National Monument, has also been No. 17 on Golf Digest's list of America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. |
