The weather's heating up, and that means Grand Junction's events calendar is, too. Look for free-flowing fun at these local events, from music festivals (bluegrass, country and rock) to our annual celebration of "the world's best peaches."

Downtown Farmer's Market
Thursdays June 9-Sept. 15
Grand Junction's signature summer event is back. Farmers, artists, musicians and vendors set up shop for the weekly Downtown Farmer's Market, where you can find everything from fresh produce to balloon animals. Downtown businesses open their doors, adding to the festive atmosphere, and locals and visitors stroll Main Street with smiles on their faces.

Palisade Bluegrass & Roots Festival
June 10-12
Like the local wines, this third annual event gets better with age. Get ready for listening to authentic bluegrass, drinking fine wines and brews, and camping by the Colorado River. The lineup includes performances by Way Down Yonder, Rockin Acoustic Circus, Henhouse Prowlers and Grascals.

Country Jam USA Music Festival
June 23-26
This four-day festival features performances by top country acts like Lady Antebellum, Alan Jackson and Clint Black ‗ all part of this year's lineup. Other artists set to perform include Little Big Town, Craig Morgan and Sawyer Brown. Country Jam is an outdoor festival, and nearby campgrounds are perfect for making it a true getaway.

Colorado Lavender Festival
July 15-17
Colorado's first lavender festival is set for this summer in downtown Palisade. Take a guided bus tour of lavender farms July 15, or go on self-guided tours July 17. The event culminates July 16 with seminars on growing lavender, its history and cooking with it; hands-on demonstrations in aromatherapy, essential oils and crafts; music; food; vendors; and activities for kids.

Palisade Peach Festival
Aug. 18-21
For the 43rd year in a row, the area celebrates juicy Palisade peaches during this annual celebration held at Riverbend Park at the peak of harvest season. There's a recipe contest, Big Beauty Peach Contest, parade, car show, ice cream social and more. You can also take tours of area orchards and wineries, and the local brewery and distillery.

Rock Jam Music Concert
Aug. 26-27
Prefer rock to country or bluegrass? Then this outdoor music festival near Grand Junction is for you. It's two days of performances by Meatloaf, Skillet, Godsmack, Twisted Sister and other artists, plus camping, eating and just having a rockin' time.

Tour of the Valley Bicycle Ride
Aug. 28
The famous Tour of the Valley is an opportunity to pedal 30-, 50-, 75- or 100-mile routes across the area (the 100-mile ride even goes over the Colorado National Monument). Participants get to enjoy a post-ride meal and mini massage after a leisurely or challenging ride through beautiful Western Colorado.
