Grand Junction’s Colorado Mountain Winefest Voted Best Wine Festival in the Nation by USA Today

Colorado Mountain Winefest presented by Alpine Bank has been voted the best wine festival in the U.S. by USA Today’s 10Best website.

A panel of wine and travel experts nominated 20 of the best festivals celebrating wine, wine culture and wine tourism across the country’s top wine-making regions. The panel included Jill Barth, an internationally published wine writer and journalist; Jil Child, partner and co-owner of Wine Tours of the World; and Karen MacNeil, one of the foremost wine experts in the U.S. Readers voted on the top 10 winners, with Colorado Mountain Winefest getting top bidding.

“Thank you to all who voted, and for those who continue to make Colorado Mountain Winefest everything it has grown into for over 25 years,” said Cassidee Shull, Executive Director for the Colorado Association for Viticulture & Enology (CAVE) and Colorado Mountain Winefest.

Debbie Kovalik, Executive Director of the Grand Junction Visitor & Convention Bureau, says she is thrilled that the event is getting national recognition. “The Grand Valley is home to more than 20 wineries and vineyards that serve up some of Colorado’s best wines, and we are looking forward to showcasing them all to an even bigger crowd this September, thanks to this vote.”

The Colorado Mountain Winefest, held in the quaint town of Palisade (just east of Grand Junction), started 26 years ago. The four-day event draws about 7,000 attendees each year and features over 50 wineries. This year’s event will be held Sept. 14-17. The Winefest is the largest fundraiser for CAVE, the only non-profit organization dedicated to the Colorado wine and grape growing industry. Colorado Mountain Winefest proceeds fund the annual VinCO Conference & Tradeshow.
