GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (April 19, 2016) – As an appreciation to donors, the Avalon Theatre Foundation (www.avalontheatrefoundation.org) will host an open house for the dedication of the permanent donor wall at the Avalon Theatre located at 645 Main Street, Grand Junction, Colorado. This event will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the dedication ceremony scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  This new, permanent feature in the Avalon Theatre’s historic lobby honors organizations and over 500 private donations that made the recent renovation of the Historic Avalon Theatre possible.

During the Avalon Theatre Foundation’s open house for the dedication of the donor wall, the public is invited to tour the renovated theatre, including the new Rooftop Terrace, and to enjoy hor d’oeuvres, refreshments and music.

“To show our gratitude and appreciation to the local community for coming together to support this remarkable renovation that is preserving a piece of Grand Junction history, we invite donors and citizens alike to celebrate the dedication of the permanent donor wall at the Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction, Colorado,” stated Robbie Breaux, president of the Avalon Foundation Board of Directors.

The Historic Avalon Theatre reopened in September 2014 following a $9.65 million renovation that ensures its position as one of the premier performing arts venues in Western Colorado for years to come. The renovations included a new building addition that provided a modern multipurpose facility with outstanding acoustics and expanded seating.  This renovation was the result of a partnership between the City of Grand Junction, the Downtown Development Authority, and the Avalon Theatre Foundation.

The renovated Avalon Theatre has provided value to the community as a venue for live performances, concerts, movies, and private parties and events.  The popular Dinner and a Movie on Tuesday evenings has drawn large crowds and generated over $140,000 in additional business for downtown restaurants, reporting from September 2015 through the 1st quarter of 2016. The Avalon Theatre supports a vibrant downtown and performing arts community in Western Colorado.
