Visit Grand Junction (Visit GJ) is the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the City of Grand Junction. Visit GJ works to create awareness and increase tourism to the Grand Junction area by providing inspirational content through marketing to potential visitors. As a Grand Junction resident, you probably don't see much of Visit GJ's work, and that's a good thing! Visit GJ's advertising efforts are focused on visitors from outside the area to promote Grand Junction as a must-see travel destination.

As part of Visit Grand Junction’s strategy, we are embarking on a community-driven destination branding process. The brand will support the Grand Junction area and will emphasize what is truly distinct about our home. Destination Think!, globally recognized experts in destination branding,  has been hired by Visit Grand Junction to assist with this process.

A successful destination brand will embody how people feel when they think of a specific destination. If the brand is effective, once they visit, the expectation they imagined before visiting, is the experience they received. A destination brand is the sum of all the characteristics and experiences of a place. Think of Disney, the totality of your thoughts, feelings, and expectations about what a visit there might be like. Check out the video for a quick three-minute overview of what destination branding is, and what it is not.

This process will take several months and will rely heavily on community involvement. After all, no one knows what makes Grand Junction special like you. The community feedback will be integrated with a significant amount of data. The data includes what residents and non-residents think about Grand Junction. We are happy to share that the public sentiment, derived from a variety of tools managed by Visit GJ, is quite positive.

Please take the survey at the top of this page and RSVP for one of the Community Engagement Sessions. We look forward to seeing you!
