Fishing and Camping at Cottonwood Lake

Outdoor activities abound at in the Grand Mesa National Forest

Spend some time in Grand Mesa National Forest where you’ll find a number of peaceful lakes surrounded by dense, green forests. Although there are more than 50 lakes and reservoirs in this national forest, Cottonwood Lake offers easy drive-up access and excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for rainbow trout.

This lake covers 77 acres, and it features a small, seasonal campground (open June through September) with 36 sites, each with its own grill and picnic table. The boat ramp makes it easy for small boats and canoes to launch into the lake and three area trails provide recreational opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
