Grand Valley Scottish Games & Celtic Festival

Get your kilt ready and prepare to have a Celtically good time at the Grand Valley Scottish Games & Celtic Festival May 18 and 19. Join us at the Mesa County Fairgrounds for two days of traditional Highland fun!

Musicians who have mastered Scotland’s favorite instrument, the bagpipe, face off in solo and band competitions for the title of top bagpiper.

Skillful Highland dancers demonstrate traditional dance steps dating back to the late 19th century.

Athletes demonstrate brute strength and skill in the Highland Games, competing in events like the Caber Toss where they balance a long log vertically while running and then throw the log to try and get it to complete a full rotation. In the Sheaf Toss, athletes stab a large burlap sack of straw with a pitchfork and throw it over a raised bar.

Sit back and take in the spectacle while enjoying live music from Wicked Tinkers, Cal and Fifth Reel.

Whatever you do, don’t forget to visit the whiskey tasting. Get a souvenir cup and make sure it’s never empty, plus with a substantial list of whisky to choose from, you won’t have to try the same one twice. Unless, of course, you want to!
