Guys’ Weekend Getaway Guide to Grand Junction

A Grand Junction guys’ weekend is for those that enjoy the rugged outdoors, quality craft brews and fine distilled spirits.

It’s a true mancation from work and a chance to get a taste of Grand Junction’s 300 days of sunshine while throwing back some suds with your best buds.

Day One Morning

Start your trip off right with a tee time at one of Grand Junction’s public golf courses. The green fairways against the red rocky cliffs make this one of the most picturesque places to break out the clubs. Named the best public course in Colorado, the Golf Club at Redlands Mesa is reason enough for a visit to Grand Junction. If you start out early, the cool crisp morning will give way to a warm sunny back nine, leaving everyone thirsty for a tasty craft brew.

Day One Afternoon

This area may be known as Colorado’s wine country, but it’s not the only thing fermenting in the Grand Junction area. Some of the finest craft breweries and distilleries in Grand Junction have made a name for themselves in Colorado’s beer scene, including local favorite Kannah Creek Brewing Company. “The Creek” offers a great outdoor space fully equipped with cornhole, picnic benches and an amazing view of the mountains. Or try Rockslide Brewery on Main Street, which boasts a twice-daily happy hour serving up craft beers brewed onsite alongside a mouth-watering menu.

Next, you’ll want to wander over to Lil’ Ole’ Winemaker in Downtown Grand Junction and talk to the owners about brewing beer and making wine. They’ve been doing it since the ‘70s and have helped many of the local vintners and brewers refine their craft. While meandering Main Street, be sure to stop into a storefront that strikes your fancy and pick up something special for whoever let you get away with the guys.

Day One Evening

There’s no better bang for your buck than a minor league baseball game. Enjoy America’s favorite pastime in Grand Junction’s temperate evening weather. The Grand Junction Jackalopes, a minor league feeder team for the MLB’s Colorado Rockies, guarantee a good time. Tickets and concession goods are affordable, leaving more money to stay longer in Grand Junction.

Day Two Morning and Afternoon

There are too many things to do around Grand Junction to accomplish in one weekend, but here are a few ideas. Hike atop the largest flat-top mountain in the world on the Grand Mesa.
