Little Park Road

The Mica Mine trail is a local favorite, and the trail leads to a historic mica and quartz mine.

The Bangs Canyon Trailhead lies at the heart of the Bangs Canyon Special Recreation Management Area and provides access to several different trails and recreation opportunities. These include: hiking and rock climbing in Rough Canyon and Ladder Canyon – home to an historic mica and quartz mine, OHV and mountain bike opportunities on the Tabeguache Trail, the Third Flats ATV trail system, and rock crawling on the Billings Canyon Jeep Trail.

* In late April 2020, the Mica Mine Trail experienced a landslide where 70 tons of rock fell on the trail. The trail is still open, but please mind the hazard signs, and stay out of roped-off areas. Read more here.
