Things to Do in the Lakes

Grand Mesa Lakes

Just 45 minutes east, the Grand Mesa is bursting with over 300 tranquil lakes. These high-altitude waters are rich with trout and perfect for canoeing and paddleboarding. For a relaxing break, pack a lunch and enjoy Beaver Lake or the Mesa Lakes picnic area for alpine scenery.

Highline Lake State Park

The swim beach at Highline Lake is open May through September with designated buoy lines and picnic tables. Next door, Mack Mesa Lake is for fishing only, and on-site rentals offer paddleboards or kayaks to take you off the banks.

Swimming Pools & Water Parks

Grand Junction’s pools and splash parks provide family-friendly fun. The Lincoln Park–Moyer Pool has a 50-meter lap pool, waterslide and splash pad, while Orchard Mesa Pool offers an indoor wading area, waterslide and hot tub. For little ones, the Dos Rios splash park features a splash pad and playground.

Tubing & Rafting

At Las Colonias River Park, a half-mile water channel with gentle wave features offers a safe course for tubing and wading. Rentals and shuttles are available nearby. For longer adventures, start at Corn Lake and raft, paddle or float down the Colorado River to Las Colonias. Outfitters such as Grand Junction Adventures supply tubes, boards and guided trips, and nearby Palisade offers a gentle Class I float past orchards and vineyards.
