A Headless chicken, antique trucks, lavender & peaches, farmers market, and fireworks are all part of the festival line-up soon to arrive in Grand Junction starting now through early summer. Days are comfortably warm this time of year, and nights are cool so it’s a perfect time to enjoy summertime festivals and other outdoor recreation activities late into the evening. The sun doesn’t set until just before 9 pm, so stay up late!

May 25, 2024: Cross Orchards Antique Truck Show

Calling all truck enthusiasts! Cross Orchards Historic Site has a variety of vintage trucks for you to view while taking a step back in time. Bring the family down and check out the evolution of the trucks that built America! Each vehicle tells a story of craftsmanship, innovation, and nostalgia.

May 31 – June 1, 2024: Mike the Headless Chicken Festival

Celebrate the bizarre story of Mike the Headless Chicken, who lived for 18 months without a head. The festival will have family games, food, vendors, a car show, a 5k Run, a disc golf tournament, and a Peep & Wing Eating Contest. There’s a ton of family fun at this festival, and it is sure to make you lose your head!

June 8 – October 26, 2024: Fruita Farmers and Makers Market

Every Saturday morning, Reed Park in Fruita comes alive with a vibrant Farmer's Market. Discover a treasure trove of local delights, from fresh produce to handcrafted wares and delectable treats. This bustling community market offers a diverse array of vendors, including handmade crafts and culinary artisans.

June 15, 2024: Take Part in Art


Participate in hands-on activities, tinker with crafts, and learn about the many arts & culture organizations in the Grand Junction area at Take Part in Art. Activities include live performances, giant games, arts & crafts, prize raffles, and more. Get colorful and artsy at this fun outdoor event.

June 29, 2024: Colorado Lavender Festival

As the only lavender festival in the state, Colorado Lavender Fest offers self-guided farm tours at many of the local lavender farms, educational events, and an array of lavender-infused products. This event will arouse all of your senses.

July 4, 2024: Independence Day Parade & Fireworks

Celebrate the 4th of July with an Independence Day parade through Downtown Grand Junction and enjoy the firework display after the Grand Junction Jackalopes baseball game later in the evening! It’s a celebration of patriotism and community spirit, drawing people of all ages together to honor our Nation’s independence with marching bands, flag waving, and ol’ time baseball. 

July 11-Sept. 26, 2024: Downtown Market on Main

Enjoy local produce and products grown right here in the Grand Junction area every Thursday from July 11 to September 26, 2024. This local farmer’s market has expanded to include makers' products, art vendors, yard games, and entertainment including bands and dance groups - transforming it into the Market on Main. If you are still hungry after taste-testing your way through the market, visit Food Truck Alley. 

July 16-20, 2024: Mesa County Fair
